Everyone has a body. So, everyone can train using just their bodyweight! There’s no excuse for skipping your workout due to the fact that you don’t have a gym membership or you don’t know how to use some machines.

Plus, if you assume that bodyweight workouts are less effective than working out using fancy equipment, we’re here to set the record straight. Here, we’re sharing all the reasons why bodyweight training is incredibly effective.

When training with just your body weight, there’s no need to move around the gym from one machine to the next. You won’t have to wait your turn to use any of the equipment and therefore you’re likely to take shorter breaks.

Short rest periods are the key to HIIT bodyweight workouts since it keeps your body in an anaerobic state. It trains your heart to recover more quickly and helps send oxygen throughout your body faster.

When you do bodyweight training, you’re combining strength and cardio workouts into one. Instead of taking one day to run on the treadmill and another day to do your strength training, with bodyweight exercises like kickboxing, you’re getting a total workout all in one.

To expand on this idea, when you combine strength and cardio, it also saves you a lot of time. Not to mention, HIIT workouts show faster results overall. Some studies say that 50 minutes of low-intensity steady-state exercise produces the same results as 30 minutes of high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

So, busy people would be smart to choose an activity like kickboxing to get the most out of their time spent.

Another reason why bodyweight exercises are extremely effective is the fact that they can be easily modified. Instead of rearranging your equipment to make something easier or more difficult, bodyweight training can be instantly modified to any skill level.

Plus, mixing up your workout to match your energy levels or daily schedule makes bodyweight workouts super effective and manageable. When you’re away on business, you can do them outside in the courtyard. If you’re feeling sluggish after a long week with the kids, you can easily adjust your workout to do as much as you can handle that day.

The options to modify are endless and as long as you commit to consistency, it doesn’t have to be perfect.

We might be biased, but kickboxing and other bodyweight workouts are often a lot more fun than doing a bunch of reps on a machine or spending 45 minutes on the elliptical.
