Ready to crush your Christmas fitness this year?!

Here, we’ve got five quick tips to help you smash goals, improve your mental health, and gear up for the new year. 

Set Specific Goals

Over the holidays, your goals may have to adjust. But, that doesn’t mean they need to go entirely out the window. Being specific about how your plans might change over the holidays can help you crush your Christmas fitness.

Perhaps you want to be more intentional about rest. Maybe you want to increase your reps and prepare for the new year with rigor. Or, you might simply want to stay consistent with your workouts and eating habits through the holidays for your mental health.

Whatever your reasons, setting specific holiday goals is essential. 

Be Realistic

Speaking of setting goals, there is one caveat. They have to be realistic. It is the holiday season, after all. 

There will be temptations at every corner to skip your workout to watch Home Alone (again) or to have another chocolate chip cookie -- the ones you baked to leave out for Santa. 

So, it’s essential to be realistic about what you’ll be able to achieve over the Christmas break. It probably makes sense to loosen up the reigns, just a bit, to allow for some extra downtime or a few more treats. 

By setting realistic and achievable goals, you’re less likely to feel guilty about “slacking off” or “failing” to meet them. 


Practice Moderation

Moderation during the holiday season is pretty much an oxymoron. With tons of food and an overwhelming to-do list, going the non-extreme route is almost non-existent. 

However, moderation is the key to a happy and healthy Christmas season. 

Sure, enjoy the food on Christmas Eve and the holiday feast the next day. But don’t let that be an invitation to binge for two weeks straight. 

Similarly, with exercise, take the day off when it’s more important to be with your family. But, remember that exercising will put you in a better mood and make you more energized, ready to take on another family gathering. 

Long story short, do your best to find moderation between overindulging and obsessing about your fitness goals. Somewhere in between is best.

Find Flexible Fitness Options

It’s hard enough to find time to cook, wrap, and decorate during the holidays -- let alone exercise. So, make sure you have flexible ways to work out anytime and anywhere is essential.

The important thing is that you’re showing up for yourself during the holidays so that you can be the best version of yourself for your loved ones. 

Realistic goal-setting, moderation, and flexibility are all so important to crushing your Christmas fitness this year and setting yourself up to kick start the new year. But when all is said and done, accept how the holidays went, good or not, and get ready for 2021. It’s just around the corner!
